Running Ostrich Basket

Botswanean baskets are woven together by hand using palm tree leaves which are dyed using natural dyes created from crushing roots, bark and the leaves of trees.

The baskets follow set designs which mirror the natural world around them. Patterns made my animals in the sand, animal prints and their behaviours all influence the outcome of these designs. The stories behind them are as engaging as the baskets themselves. Check out the images below and see if you can identify this pattern from the index.
